About Blues at the Red
The home of Tandoori Blues is the Red Lion in the Old Town, here you will find many people who turn up on Sunday evenings to hear good music. Most bands play classic blues and do both covers and/or original songs.
All are welcome here for a beer and relaxed Sunday night. Blues music in Stevenage Old Town has for many years been managed by Trevor Keeling, sadly we lost Trevor earlier in 2020, however we hope to continue his good work when the current Corona Virus restrictions allow.
History of Tandoori Blues
Trevor started booking bands in Stevenage Old Town and Walkern Social club in the 1980’s. The more permanent location for these bands was the Pride of India (Elizabethan Wine Bar – for those that old to remember the name).
This then became a Curry house upstairs, so you could now go to one location and get Beer, Blues Music and also order a Samosa or Onion Bhaji all in one venue. This led to the name “Tandoori Blues”.
Since 2006 the Red Lion (Stevenage Old Town High Street) has been the home of Tandoori Blues.
